draw large elaborate maps?
I love drawing maps. I will spend hours drawing roads and houses, bus routes, rivers etc. So far I have a map of a council estate, a village and somewhere I have an island.
I also love drawing house layouts, especially for characters. It fascinates me the way houses are put together, where the rooms are etc.

Oh my goodness Elle!!
I draw maps and plans as part of my job as a graphic designer!!
I just finished drawing plans up for 4 x 5 bedroom homes - I plan out which one I'd prefer and where I'll put the bed in the master bedroom!!
The architect supplies his drawings and I scan them in as pict files, then draw over them in adobe illustrator to the clients preference. It can get really boring if you have lots to do - I've worked for Laing, TA Fisher and Milgate - so if you've bought a house from them then it might be my design on the selling brochure!!
So much of this is done on computer now.
We tend to take the basis of a map from multimap then go from there - though a few years ago there was a bit of a turn around and a few maps were hand drawn and illustrated (I used to work with a fab illustrator in the old days)
Going back to the houses - I actually have a set of plans from a house that I drew that one day I'd love to build on a plot of land - dream on!

I failed art at school (well, not so much failed as booted out) but I've always loved to do this. So, you don't get your 6in ruler and pencils out and do it on the back of old wallpaper then?
